The hoopla and the farcical opera of COVID with more acts than ever 😐, plus the US Elections won / stolen ( 🤷♂️ – I believe “jiggered” ), plus a comedy of an insurrection has clouded out real important issues….
Out of the blue, I remembered MH 370 and how it has been missing – a modern jet liner disappearing without a trace is unusual and so I began hunting for more news
And viola – there had been some news in Dec 2021.
A wonderful soup of Aviation, Satellite data, Ocean currents and drift …. PLUS
A New piece of additional Data
WSPR – (Whisper) Weak Signal Propagation Reporter Network
Never before used, but the reason is simple.
It is spanking new tech developed by Astrophysicist and Nobel Laureate Joe Taylor (Qasars) in 2008 and used by some Ham operators ..
It is really a very nutritious soup !
just right to warm up the trails of a missing 777!
An aerospace engineer Richard Godfrey – delicious destiny – was supposed to board Air France 447 that plunged into the Atlantic – very interestingly and bizarrely, for a most avoidable issue.
Well, he didn’t board that flight and saved his life, but that got him interested in missing airliners and so, he turned his mind to MH370 and integrated ocean drift, Inmarsat pings, Engine telemetry data with WSPR .
WSPR is, I gather like a trip wire – the wire being really low voltage (less than Bluetooth transmission good for 30 ft) one way transmission …
saying I’m here and whosoever identifies it updates a website, so that the transmitter can find out who fished out his message in a bottle and where it was fished out.
These ultra low wattage radio waves cover – Huge distances – Ukraine ham to an Australian ham ..
And these radio signals are like ‘tripwires’ to aircrafts ..
Also described as geo-caching in the Stratosphere 😄
In crowded airspaces it will be very difficult to identify who tripped it, but where there is only one plane around at the time, and at the place – Indian Ocean – it is easy to deduce who tripped it – MH370 ….
And so Mr. Godfrey queried the database for that date and time ..and hit paydirt.
8 tripwires + all the other data points and what did it boil down to ?
A 40 Sq KM radius in the Indian Ocean – 4000 m deep.
Earlier efforts had flagged 12000 sq KM which was scanned, fruitlessly.
In comparison 40 Sq Km sounds much more do-able. But all has to wait the equipment and the funding…which will take a year
So maybe more news next Southern summer – this December or Next January 🤞.
